Dr. Leif Rosenberger

Professor Leif Rosenberger teaches courses on the Economics of International Security and International Financial Crises in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. He has published 12 books and 60 articles.

Professor Rosenberger retired from the US government in 2016 after a 35-five-year career in the US national security community. He was a Full Professor of Economics at the Army War College, where he held the General Douglas MacArthur Academic Chair of Research in the Strategic Studies Institute.

Dr. Rosenberger was the Chief Economist at PACOM and CENTCOM and a Task Force Commander at CENTCOM. He was a Visiting Scholar on the Economics Faculty at Harvard, and has taught International Business at the University of Hawaii and Political Science and Economics at Dickinson College and Providence College.

He holds a BA with honors from Harvard, a Master’s degree from Boston University, and a PhD in International Relations from Claremont Graduate University. He was a Scholar-Athlete and a six-letter winner in hockey and lacrosse at Harvard, and was inducted into the St. Mark’s School Athletic Hall of Fame.
